“While changing our name better reflects the institution we have become, our core values, our mission and our personal attention to our students, will remain the same", announced President Timothy R. Thyreen. "We strive always to inspire our students within our warm, friendly, caring Christian environment where students are the center of our focus. As a result, the Waynesburg you have cherished and loved will continue.”
Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Gerald L. Zahorchak, D.Ed., approved the name change on August 10, 2007. The final decision was preceded by an extensive application process and a successful site visit from an evaluation team chaired by Dr. David Black, President of Eastern University in St. Davids, PA.
Waynesburg University will continue to inspire its 2300 students to pursue lives of leadership and purpose and its dedication to service-learning and service-leadership will remain a defining quality of students, faculty and staff alike.
