5 Synod Presbyteries Honored

for Mission Giving in 2008

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has honored 38 presbyteries across the country for their generous support of Presbyterian mission in 2008 including 5 within the Synod of the Trinity!  Of these 38, Carlisle, Donegal, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and West Viriginia each made the Top Ten Lists.  Congrats to these presbyteries!

“Presbyterians feel passionate about mission on a local, national and global scale,” said Linda Valentine, executive director of the PC(USA) General Assembly Mission Council (GAMC).  “The money donated by presbyteries each year means we can continue to engage in mission and ministry across the country and around the world.”

“Top Ten” lists are compiled in four categories: total giving, basic mission support, special offerings, and other appeals and then sorted by total giving and by average giving per member. Our five presbyteries landed in the categories as follows:

Total Giving by Dollar Amount:

Philadelphia & Donegal

Total Giving by Average per Member: Donegal & Carlisle
Basic Mission Support by total Dollar Amount: Donegal, Philadelphia, and Carlisle
Basic Mission Support by Average per Member: Carlisle, Donegal & West Virginia
Special Offerings by Total Dollar Amount: Philadelphia & Donegal
Special Appeals by Total Dollar Amount: Philadelphia & Pittsburgh

Complete details of all 38 presbyteries and the amounts given are listed in the news release (click here) or by visiting the PC (U.S.A.) website.

The Synod is grateful for the leadership provided to the whole church through our presbyteries!  Congratulations to each presbytery!
