The Synod of the Trinity expresses sadness on receiving the news of the death of the Rev. William R. McSwegin on April 18, 2009
after a long battle with Mesothelioma.
A dedicated servant of God, Bill served seven years as the Executive Presbyter of Lackawanna Presbytery before retiring as Executive Presbyter Emeritus.
Rev. McSwegin was ordained into the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., at First Presbyterian Church, Reidsville, NC, where he was the associate minister for 7 years. Bill served as minister of Kuhn Memorial Presbyterian Church, Barboursvile, WV, for 17 years and as interim executive presbyter of the Presbytery of West Virginia from 1997-1998.
Friends are invited to visit with the family today, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 105 Irem Road, Dallas, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted by a number of his friends and colleagues on Tuesday at Trinity Presbyterian Church at 2 pm with a visitation for one hour prior to the service. Clergy and CLP's attending the funeral are invited to robe and process. Please meet in the office at Trinity at 1:45 pm.
Arrangements are being handled by the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., Dallas, PA. Burial will occur at the Reidlawn Cemetery, Reidsville, NC, on Saturday, at 11 am with the assistance of Citty Funeral Home, Reidsville, NC. Condolences may be sent to http://www.cittyfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Merl and Agnes McSwegin Book Award Fund for Yale Divinity School students, c/o Trinity Presbyterian Church, 105 Irem Road, Dallas, PA 18612 from where they will be forwarded to the fund. |
