Notes from the Summer 2004 Conference Meeting
The
Synod of the Trinity of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
The First Annual Summer Conference meeting of the Synod
of the Trinity took place at Waynesburg College in Waynesburg,
Pennsylvania on June 9 through 11, 2004. This was the second
session of the 287th meeting year of the Synod. It was the
first event that was held as a combined conference and business
meeting.
Led
by The Rev. Dale Zeimer of
The Center for Parish Development and the Synod’s
Conference Planning Team, 100 persons gathered throughout
the three day meeting. Synod Commissioners, Youth Advisory
Delegates, committee and task force members, persons representing
emerging networks, Synod staff, and guests focused on sharing
information, networking, learning and celebrating. They
were joined by groups from throughout the Synod who led
worship of God with Bluegrass music, Korean prayer dance,
Taize singing, and traditional styles of praising the Lord.
It was a unique opportunity to consider what it means to
be a “missional synod” – and how the Synod,
through a variety of partnerships, may best serve Christ.
