The Rhythm of the Synod
	Faith Notes from the Fall Meeting of the Synod of the Trinity Presbyterian Church (USA)
	Gathering in the Presbytery of Shenango West Middlesex, PA
	October 19-20, 2006

At the third meeting in the 289th year of the Synod of the Trinity, an exciting, inspiring evening of worship was lead by the Rev. Angel De La Cruz, members of the Word-Centered Fellowship, and representatives of Shenango Presbytery. Bruce Stevens, Synod Executive, and David Dawson, Shenango Presbytery Executive, led in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper.  Meeting at the church in Masury, Ohio, Synod Commissioners and meeting participants, rejoiced in the first year anniversary of this energetic, multi-ethnic, charismatic Presbyterian congregation.

Synod Moderator Ruth Rusling (Elder, Lehigh Presbytery) welcomed the Rev. Andrew Jillson, Moderator of Shenango Presbytery, who brought greetings.  He also highlighted various interesting ways that God is served in Shenango Presbytery.

Business included the election of Gary Lyon (Clergy, Kiskiminetas Presbytery) as 2007 Moderator and Mary Speedy (Elder, Carlisle Presbytery) as 2007 Vice-Moderator. They will be installed in February 2007.

Chantal Atnip, Synod Treasurer, gave a detailed report concerning the current finances of the Synod. The 2007 budget was approved.

Coordinating Team updates were given for Student Ministries (Chairperson Jeffrey Kisner, Washington Presbytery); Church Development (Chairperson Jim Robinson, West Virginia Presbytery): and Racial Ethnic Ministries (Chairperson Warren McNeill, Philadelphia Presbytery).

Arcadia University photo by Joe Wiliams Joan S. Gray Moderator Rusling reported on the good progress of planning for the 2007 Summer Conference. General Assembly Moderator Joan Gray will be the featured speaker at Arcadia University which is located in the Presbytery of Philadelphia. Chaplain James Mohr spoke about the 2008 Summer Conference Meeting which is scheduled to be held at Westminster College in the Presbytery of Shenango.

An eight member Synod Review Team was approved and will give a preliminary report in June 2007 and a final report with recommendations in October 2007.

Commissioner Tom Gomola (Clergy, Shenango) and members of his congregation from the Leesburg Presbyterian Church in Volant, Pennsylvania, led a meaningful closing worship.

The next meeting will be held February 8-9, 2007 in the Presbytery of Carlisle.
