In August 2006, my husband and I traveled to Ciudad Vieja , Guatemala for a medical mission trip. Ciudad Vieja is a poor town of about 35,000 people surrounded by the mountains and several volcanoes approximately one hour from Guatemala City. The mission couple we worked with there are with Final Harvest Ministries in Guatemala, and they work and live in Ciudad Vieja.
My husband is a pharmacist and he helped me distribute medications that we brought with us or purchased in Antigua, Guatemala. We worked with several dentists who traveled there from C alifornia and Wisconsin. Together, we ministered to approximately 200 people each day for a week, both physically and spiritually. It was amazing how God brought us together from across the US and the world to serve Him.
Next year, we hope to return there to continue medical and dental ministries, as well as to organize a team for house construction. It is a beautiful area, but the people there are very poor and in much need of our help.
With the help of the Synod of the Trinity, as well as our church congregation and other organizations, it is our prayer that we can continue so serve the Lord in providing hope for the poor of Ciudad Vieja, Guatemala. We thank you for your support and prayers.
