In June 2006, my son Andrew and I went on our third trip to Juarez, Mexico. We travel there as part of People Building People from Cincinnati, OH. PBP partners with local ministries there to provide construction, medical services, and teaching.
I am a pharmacist so I participate in the medical aspect of the trip, while Andrew is part of the construction team. Both are important in showing the poor of that area that we care and love them, not with just words but also with actions.
PBP has built many homes and a community center over the past several years in one of the poor desert neighborhoods of Juarez. This years construction teams focused on building a compound in that neighborhood that can house ministry teams from all over the country and Canada, as well as have storage warehouses for construction materials and a medical facility. This will also provide jobs for the people of that neighborhood. We are committed to not just building homes, but to building a community.

We have worked for the past several years with a local missionary doctor, Dr. Hugo Mendez. He is from Juarez and is committed to serving the poor of that area in full-time ministry. With the generosity of many, we have been able to help provide Dr. Mendez with medical supplies and manpower; it has been a privilege serving the Lord with Dr. Mendez and working with his ministry. We are also committed to providing a medical facility that Dr. Mendez, as well as other missionary physicians, can use to serve the poor of that area. |
With the help of the Synod of the Trinity, as well as our church congregation and other organizations, it is our prayer that we can continue so serve the Lord in providing hope for the poor of Juarez, Mexico. We thank you for your support and prayers.
