The Synod Grant made it possible for 14 members of Hiland PC to join 24 others from Heritage, Mt. Nebo, and Northminster Presbyterian Churches from Pittsburgh Presbytery on our Mission to Hurricane Katrina Victims in Long Beach, Mississippi from Feb. 18-26, 2006.  As I'm sure you know the media reports and news coverage can only go so far in trying to communicate the devastation of the Gulf Coast region.

We were blessed to be able to go and receive the amazing hospitality of the Long Beach Presbyterian Church and the Presbytery of Mississippi. Indeed, we know that their   faith, courage and determination to not only recover but to literally rebirth the whole area was a witness far greater than our few days of service. All who participated experienced life-changing blessings and brought back to our home churches a renewed vision of mission and service to people in need far beyond our local area. We will return to the Gulf Coast region!
