The Follansbee/Cove Mission Group traveled to Pendleton County, WV from July 16-23. We took nineteen people ages 14-75 years old to work with the Almost Heaven Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Franklin WV. Our group was joined by other groups from Maryland, Virginia, and New Cumberland, WV.
This year the group was able to work on four homes in various stages of construction. Volunteers participated in final painting to completing one home as well as starting construction of interior moldings and casing on another. Two porches were built as well as windows put in and soffit and fascia work done. Many worked on the home site where from the foundation interior and exterior wall all the way to the roof and shingles were completed. Great job!
Another project that was a challenge due to the high temperatures and intense sunshine was replacing the entire roof of the Volunteer Center. The volunteers did a fantastic job down to combing the grass for stray nails.
Our leisure time in the evenings was filled with games, music and great devotions. An annual tradition of a cookout with the home owners was followed by a talent show. This is always a highlight of our week.
All in all a lot of work and play in God's Grace and Glory was enjoyed by all.
