Open Letters following the 2008 General Assembly |
| Reyes-Chow, Parsons & Valentine address issues |
Seeking ways to live out General Assembly’s theme from Micah 6:8 of “Do justice, love kindness, walk humbly with our God”, newly-elected Moderator Bruce Reyes-Chow, newly-elected Stated Clerk Gradye Parsons, and GAC Executive Director Linda Valentine have reached out to all presbyterian congregations with a letter outlining the recent actions of the 218th General Assembly held in San Jose, CA this past June. Over 400 business items were handled throughout the conference and some of these were and will be discussed in the weeks and years to come.

The ordination standards of our church is a subject with which Presbyterians are familiar and one that evokes great debates and deep emotions and it was no different at General Assembly. Please read the true and actual actions of GA by clicking on this link. "Making obedience to Christ" the ordination standard and for it to become part of the Book of Order, a majority of presbyteries will need to ratify it over the next year. |
Our hope is that none of us will act or react immediately to the decisions, choosing instead to pray and talk with one another about these issues.
