Presbyterian peacemakers of all ages will gather from July 3 through 8, 2007 at Montreat Conference Center, in Montreat, North Carolina on for the 2007 Intergenerational Peacemaking Conference.
Together they will explore the theme, "Jesus: Proclaiming Peace", focusing on Luke 4:18-19 where Jesus proclaims “the year of the Lord’s favor.” Conference leaders will challenge participants to deepen their understanding of Jesus’ teachings about peace and justice.
Through prayer, worship, Bible study, and advocacy opportunities, participants will connect to the spirituality of the Sabbath and peacemaking and claim and celebrate God’s eternal jubilee in Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. There will be times for individual and group reflection.
Children and youth will interact with the conference theme through Bible study, hiking Montreat’s paths, dance, drama, and crafts. Evening intergenerational worship, followed by festivals in which community members play together, will bring

Leading plenary Bible studies will be Mark Lomax, pastor, First Afrikan Presbyterian Church of Lithonia, GA, and assistant professor of homiletics at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, GA, the Rev. Elizabeth Nordquist, associate professor of spirituality at San Francisco Theological Seminary,
the Rev. Florence Deenadayalan, pastor of Holy Cross Church and Christ the Savior Church (Church of South India) in Bangalore, India, and M. Shiamala Baby, director, Forum for Women's Rights and Development, Tamil Nadu, India.
Juan and Kathy Treviño, pastor and parish associate of First Presbyterian Church, Brownsville, Texas will lead the
intergenerational community in worship. Evening festivals will be led by Cindy Edwards, bike and hike guide from, Sitka, AK, David LaMotte, songwriter and concert artist from Black Mountain, NC, and Ed McNulty, editor and publisher for Visual Parables, Walton, KY.

Limited funds are available for scholarships towards registration costs for racial ethnic persons or first-time participants in a peacemaking event. Applications are due no later than April 13, 2007.
