Our Freedom of Religion at Risk:

A Presbyterian Crisis

February 19, 2009
2:00 pm - 5:30 pm

These are challenging times for presbyteries around the nation.  Radical individualism has taken form in a radical congregationalism that challenges our connectionalism as Presbyterians.  More and more churches look to the secular courts to settle ecclesiastical matters resulting in a weakening of our religious freedom to “be and act as the church” independent from state interference.

On Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 2:00-5:30 PM EST, Pittsburgh Presbytery will hold a live and interactive on-line convocation informative convocation:  Our Freedom of Religion at Risk – A Presbyterian Crisis.  The full convocation will be webcast over the internet.  Plans are being made for Q & A participation in the convocation by those viewing from remote sites.  We encourage you to schedule group viewing and discussion throughout your Presbytery.

Presentation topics followed by on-line group discussions are:
The Westminster Assembly by Dr. Joseph Small
Covenant and Freedom of Conscience by Dr. Beau Weston and Dr. Euan Cameron
Religious Liberty: A Legal History by attorneys Mark Tammen, Esq. and Rev. Jeff Tindall

Because of production and webinar expense, Pittsburgh Presbytery would sincerely appreciate a contribution from each of our sister presbyteries and other organizations that host their own site to assist in defraying these expenses. The cost is $200. Please click on the info page for complete details.
