Pine Street Presbyterian Church's 2007 Winter Seminar speaker is Dr. John F. Haught, a Roman Catholic theologian and the Landegger Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Theology at Georgetown University. Dr. Haught is a strong advocate for dialogue b etween science and religion and for how the insights of science can broaden our understanding of God’s relationship to the world. In this seminar, Dr. Haught will describe for us what exactly is at stake in this important discussion. Held at Pine Street PC on Saturday, March 3 from 10:30 AM to our question and answer session beginning at 3:30 pm, Dr. Haught will also lead an Adult Forum on Sunday morning (March 4) at 9:40 am in the Fellowship Hall. His topic is "Ecology and Theology."
The author of several important books on the creation-evolution controversy, including Deeper than Darwin: the Prospect for Religion in the Age of Evolution, God After Darwin: a Theology of Evolution, and Responses to 101 Questions on God and Evolution,
Dr. Haught’s recent claim to fame was as an expert witness in the trial Kitzmiller versus Dover Area School District held in the Federal District Court in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
