Work Group and Task Force

At the May 2008 special called meeting, Synod commissioners elected one Coordinating Team, Leadership Development.  This new Coordinating Team will utilize Work Groups, Task Forces, and/or Action Teams to live out this priority.  From this team, the Communications Work Group and Network Task Force were established.  Below are the descriptive paragraphs of the purpose, responsibilities and composition of the newly created work group and task force.

Commissioners also took action to approve that “Synod organizational and financial resources will be allocated primarily to those projects, relationships, and organizations that demonstrate their intentional efforts and measurable results to identify new leaders and to train, coach, and equip all leaders.”

Communications Work Group

The Synod Communications Work Group is to be appointed by the Synod Moderator in order to design and implement a comprehensive communications plan for the Synod of the Trinity.

After receiving the Synod Review Team recommendations of October 2007, this Work Group is also charged with assisting the Synod to “communicate, communicate, communicate!”

The Work Group is to report to Synod Commissioners in October 2008 with a complete and wide-ranging report that will assist Synod staff, Presbyteries, congregations, and church members to learn the best possible practices for letting one another know what is happening in the Synod, how to participate in what is happening in the Synod, and how to promote what is happening in the Synod.

All persons appointed to this Work Group have experience in the areas of communications and public relations.  Click here for the work group list.

Network Task Force

The Synod Network Task Force is to be appointed by the Synod Moderator (February Synod Minutes 2004) in order to evaluate and monitor the life and well being of the Synod Mission Networks.  After receiving the Synod Review Team recommendations of October 2007, this Network Task Force will also be looking into ways to support the creation and support of Networks, as well as helping to increase awareness in the Presbyteries. Best practices for providing information about Synod Mission Networks and how to start a Network or become involved in a Network will be some of the issues the Network Task Force will engage.  Click here for the task force list.
