The
Peacemaking Ministries Network of the Synod of the Trinity
seeks to be a prophetic voice and to strengthen peacemaking
as it is related to the total life and mission of Christians
in partnership with the presbyteries and churches of the
Synod of the Trinity and with the Presbyterian Peacemaking
Program.
Presbytery Endorsement:
Carlisle, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia
Goals:
To promote peacemaking, social justice, and inclusivity
by providing resources and leadership training to the Synod
and its Presbyteries.
To encourage the receipt of the Peacemaking Offering by
every congregation in the Synod.
To allocate funds from the Synod's share of the Peacemaking
Offering to peacemaking projects throughout the Synod and
to assist in planning, initiating, implanting, and evaluating
such projects.
To sponsor or support peacemaking projects and workshops
which are ecumenical and/or which involve several presbyteries.
To encourage Synod and Presbytery response (endorsements,
letters to government leaders, etc.) related to peace and
justice concerns as well as to respond to referrals and
requests from Synod and Presbyteries.
To recognize and lift up peacemaking at Synod meetings.
To encourage Synod representation at National Presbyterian
Peacemaking events. "Peacemaking
is the believer's calling." and "Blessed
are the peacemakers." You have no doubt heard these
phrases mentioned numerous times. Peacemaking is a crucial
part of our Christian faith. The shalom of God as articulated
in the Old Testament and as personified in Jesus Christ
is crucial and indispensable in the tumultuous and uncertain
times in which we live.
Our
network takes seriously its commitment to peacemaking.
Peacemaking encompasses many activities in the life of the
church and is abroad enough concept to include all Presbyterians.
